TICKETS NOW ON SALE!
THE FOREIGNER ON APR. 11, 12, 18 & 19, 2008 AT 8 P.M.
Branch River Theatre will be presenting Larry Shue's hysterical comedy directed by first-time BRT director Nancy Preus, who is no stranger to theater, with over 30 years of acting and directing experience, on Apr. 11, 12, 18 & 19, 2008, 8 p.m. at the Community House of Marlborough, Marlborough, NH.
The story: "Froggy" LeSeuer, a British demolition expert, portrayed by NH Theatre Award winner for Best Actor, Peter Eisenstadter has brought his dejected and pathologically shy friend Charlie, portrayed by BRT first-timer Brooks Campbell to his favorite fishing lodge in Georgia. Unfortunately for Charlie, “Froggy” had told everyone that Charlie doesn't speak English, so poor Charlie is subjected to all kinds of awkward situations and overhears more than he would like …
Joining the cast is another BRT newcomer, Susan Massey, as Betty Meeks owner of the fishing lodge where the story takes place, who is dealing with some hard times when guests stop coming to her lodge … not even the regulars! Another newcomer to the BRT stage, but not to theater, is Kimberly Miller, a NH Theatre Award finalist for Best Supporting Actress, the rich and newly discovered pregnant Catherine Simms. Playing her not so bright but lovable brother Ellard, is the ever-versatile Chris McCartie. Also in the cast are John Mangiapane as the very redneck Owen Musser who is suspicious of foreigners and Jonathan Flower as Catherine's slimy fiancé, the Rev. David Marshall Lee. Rounding out the cast as townspeople are the wonderful Carrie Kidd (yes, another NH Theatre Award finalist!), Mia Moravis and Henry Parkhurst.
You will not want to miss out on this hysterical comedy where things are not what they may appear on the surface.
The show is rated PG-13. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., curtain at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 General Admission and $7 for Seniors/Students. To reserve tickets call 603-283-7538 or mailto: tickets@branchrivertheatre.com. Please put “TICKETS” in the subject line to prevent the spam filter from removing your message!
P.S. A special thanks to Maren Gagne for the original artwork for “The Foreigner” poster!
BRT'S SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION!
COMING JUNE 20-22 AND 26-28, 2008
The BRT Board of Directors is hard at work putting together this special celebration for you … a retrospect of our last 25 years bringing quality Community Theatre to the region.
This special multi-media event, coordinated by Lori Goldring, will be held at the Community House of Marlborough on June 20-22 and June 26-28 with a special opening reception slated for June 20th. We are now finalizing our line-up of show musical numbers, monologues, and favorite moments, which proved to be really difficult with so many great shows and performances to choose from. Currently our website reflects just a portion of what's coming (not necessarily in the order shown!) and we'll be posting the final line-up and the name of performers as soon as we finalize the remainder of the show.
So stay-tuned for updates as they become available!
“ACTING ON IMPULSE” IMPROV ON CHESHIRE TV,
APRIL 6 AT 7 PM FEATURING STUDENTS
FROM KEENE HIGH SCHOOL!
Branch River Theatre's first foray into Comedy Improv was such a success that BRT and our Master of Ceremonies Gary Gagnon, at the request of Cheshire TV, is putting together a television program with many of the same people from BRT, Actors' Circle Theatre and Vermont Theatre Company called “Acting on Impulse.” The format will be different in that teams will NOT be competing against each other, but each of the four individuals, this time from Keene High School … with a little help from the audience … will be competing against each other.
The next taping will be held on April 6, at 4 p.m. in Keene Public Library's Heberton Hall, Winter St., Keene, NH and will last approximately three hours. The show is free and open to the public, so come on down and support Comedy Improv in the Monadnock Region.
The taping will be broken down into four half-hour segments and the first episode will be broadcast April 7, at 7 p.m. on Cheshire TV - Channel 8 with the cast participants to be announced at a later date.
Show is rated PG, so don't miss out on this free and open to the public laugh event!
