by Jon O'Brien, is a musical fantasy that tells the story of how the well-known magician became the tutor and advisor to the legendary King Arthur. The tale actually revolves around a sorcerer's apprentice named Rufus Redeux who is desperately trying (yet continually failing) to win his mantle of sorcery so that he can become a full-fledged wizard. His current mission is to guide an indecisive youth named Merlin on the path of righteousness into becoming the future king of England's right-hand man. Along the way Rufus and Merlin encounter conflicts with an overprotective parent, medieval warlords, a fair maiden, and sibling rivalries. In the end, Rufus is successful in training Merlin to be King Arthur's mentor, but then the sorcerer's apprentice has to answer many questions in regard to his tactics of accomplishing this task.

IN MEMORIAM: EARL JACKMAN 1927-2006
Branch River Theatre, The Keene Lions Club, members of the cast of “Merlin” and fellow community members would like to remember Earl Jackman. Earl was very helpful during the times of rehearsals for “Merlin” at the Keene Senior Center. He would make sure that the doors were open, the space was clean and locked up when rehearsals completed. He enjoyed watching the progress of the productions that came in and out of the Senior Center weekly. Both the Keene Lions Club and Branch River Theatre would like to thank Earl and remember him as he is watching the show from above.
Thanks, Earl, you will not be forgotten …
